This week's #SkinBabe is a southern belle and #girlboss! Allison Jenks is a woman who followed her passion and it's paying off! I first met Allison aka @PinkLouLou when I was an anchor for WLEX-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. Allison is energetic, kind and unapologetic about her passions. Allison and her business partner Dana (Hi Dana!) quit their 9-5 marketing jobs to start Pink Lou Lou Design Studio. Pink Lou Lou Design Studio provides the most gorgeous hair and make-up services for women, mostly brides! In fact, Allison and Dana are so talented, Pink Lou Lou Design Studio was voted by Southern Weddings Magazine as “Best Hair Stylist” of the South 2017! Y'ALL THAT'S A BIG DEAL! :)

Since Allison is a small business owner (& lifestyle blogger!) her days and weeks vary. Allison does A LOT of hair & make-up, which means she works with A LOT of products. Allison knows her stuff - she's truly an expert by trial! But, like many small business owners, Allison has to carve out time for her OWN self-care each week. Allison is committed to consistent skincare (got that idea from her grandmother!) and she believes preventative skincare will be the difference between liking or loving your skin ten years from now!

What Does #SkinBabe mean to You?
Well first of all, I am so flattered to be a #SkinBabe! I have always been a skin care junkie, and I think it is so important to start a skin care routine early!
Why Do You Like Skincare, #SkinBabe?
Ya know, there is just something so relaxing and refreshing about taking time to pamper yourself. I actually look forward to taking my makeup off everyday, and diving into my nightly skin care routine. I like knowing that I am doing something preventative to ensure my skin is always healthy.
What's Your Biggest MUST DO for Your Skin, #SkinBabe?
Oh man this one is huge, moisturize ladies!! I remember making face “potions” with my grandmother when I was little. She had the prettiest skin, and she always insisted that moisturizing was the best thing you could do for your skin. She also made me promise to wash my makeup off each night when I went to college, haha! It stuck with me, because I always take off my makeup each night, don’t ever sleep in it!

What's Your Current Face Routine, #SkinBabe?
AM Routine
Cleanse: Obagi Gentle Cleanser
Moisturize: Skinceuticals Blemish and Age Defense - I LOVE this stuff!
Sunscreen: I finish with Obagi SunShield or Skinceuticals Physical Fusion Defense. The Obagi is a little thicker, and more like what you would expect a sunscreen to feel like. The Skinceuticals is much thinner, and goes on better under my makeup.
PM Routine
Make-Up Remover: I take my makeup off with Kroger brand makeup removing wipes. They are hands down my favorite. They don’t pull your skin so much, and eye makeup comes right off.
Cleanse with Obagi Gentle Cleanser (or any gentle cleanser from the drugstore, I think this is an opportunity for a save, vs. a splurge!)
Skin Boost: I alternate nightly between SkinMedica Retinol Complex in .05 and SkinCeuticals Advanced Pigment Corrector
Moisturize with SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore. If you are going to buy one product, THIS is the one you want. I absolutely love it. it is slightly tingly (think minty) and makes my skin so moisturized!
Eye Cream: Then, I finish with SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair

What skincare procedures or injectables do you use, #SkinBabe?
I have done an IPL laser twice, usually at the end of summer to help get rid of dark spots from the sun. I plan to do one again at the end of this summer as well. I loved my results!

Who's Your Favorite #SkinBabe?
Carrie Underwood is for sure my skin babe. She is the epitome of skin goals! I swear by Hydropeptide Nourishing Glow Oil to get Carrie worthy leg shine!
What the best advice you can give to women when it comes to skincare and confidence?
As women, it is so easy to focus on our outward appearance. It is totally ok to want to feel pretty and want to look your best, just don’t take it so seriously. As I get older I am definitely noticing some fine lines that didn’t use to be there, haha, but it's ok! With each year that passes, along with those fine lines, I have also gained wisdom, confidence, self-respect. I can honestly say my thirties have been my best years, yet. So gals, take care of your skin, but also embrace the changes of each season of life. It is so beautiful!
